Marsh Creek Site 2

Water Quality

The following charts and graphs depict the findings of a three day sampling event from June 14 through June 28, 2012. The site was visited once per week over the course of the sampling event. Georgia Adopt-A-Stream parameters and procedures were instructed to the students on the class and followed throughout the duration of the event. Water quality tests were conducted to glimpse into the health of the stream at the preselected site. Water quality characteristics such as pH, conductivity, dissolved oxygen and temperature were observed and documented.

MCpH.png
The pH for all three site visits was 7.5. this pH indicates a neutral level and shows that the water is safe.

MCconductivity.png
Our measurements ranged from 110-80 us/cm. These measurements are both within the expected range for a healthy stream but are on the low side. June 14, 2012 had no data available.

There was a rain on the 13th so this explains why the humidity was so high on the 14th. After that rain there was no more rain for the rest of the study which explains the steady drop in humidity over the samples.

The relationship between water temperature and Dissolved Oxygen is that as the water temperature decreases the Dissolved Oxygen goes up. In our study we found that our data does not follows that trend.

Overall there was no positive testing for Nitrate or Phosphate. On the 14th we got a low Phosphate reading, and we accredit this to the heavy rain that happened the day before washing waste into the stream.
